PHOENIX -- Phoenix marks the second stop of the 2014 Supercross championship, and 2014 marks Supercross' 40th anniversary and features 17 races in the season.
The best Supercross riders from all over the globe are competing for a shot at the world title.
Saturday's race will be the 17th time a supercross race has been held in Phoenix. The Phoenix race brings in on average 45,000 fans each year.
Riders reach speeds up to 50 mph and will soar some 70 feet in distance, three stories in height at certain sections of the track.
In 2014, Ryan Villopoto will be defending his third-straight title, with hopes of clinching a record fourth-consecutive titles.

The main event is Saturday, Jan. 11 at 7 p.m. Doors open and practice/qualifying rounds begin at 12:30 p.m.
