PHOENIX -- Making your home look like a million bucks doesn't have to carry a $1 million price tag.

Scottsdale designer Britany Simon, the runner-up on season seven of HGTV Design Star, says simple elegant touches are key.

Moulding, which is designed to easily add interest and depth to flat surfaces, can dress up your walls in a big way by framing artwork or even a big-screen TV.

It's a technique Simon used in her own home.

"I needed to kind of downplay this massive TV that my husband wanted to put in here so I used the mouldings to kind of frame that out," she explained.

Don't worry if you don't have a saw. Most hardware stores and home centers will cut the pieces to your specifications.

If your walls are textured, use caulking to fill in the gaps and then paint the wall and moulding together.
