PHOENIX -- Business and community leaders from all over the Phoenix metro area were "arrested" Thursday for having a "big heart." It's all part of the annual MDA Lock-up.

This unique community-wide event, which raises funds for people with neuromuscular diseases, is a popular one here in Phoenix.

The idea is for arrestees to reach to their networks to raise "bail," all of which goes to MDA and Jerry's Kids.

April Warnecke talked to this year's MDA ambassadors, Lizzie Mucklow and Rachel Meley, as well as some of the arrestees about this great cause, which is especially close to her own heart. Warnecke has been a counselor at MDA Summer Camp for the past several years.

The kids and their families do not have to pay for the special camp, which is the highlight of the year for many of the campers. It's funded by donations to MDA and events like Thursday's MDA Lock-up, which is a precursor to the big telethon.

This year's telethon is a radical departure from past years, running for six prime-time hours on Sunday, Sept. 4. The changes were announced by the Tucson-based association earlier this month.
