The second annual Gelato Wars benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation has 10 of the Valley's chefs competing for the best one-of-a-kind gelato concoction.

The competition is being held at all three Gelato Spot locations and participating chefs' restaurants.

"Come in, support your local chefs, buy a scoop of their flavor," said Tommy Plato, a co-owner of The Gelato Spot. "Everybody got together and came up with really unique flavors."

Flavors ranged from vanilla and goat cheese gelato with carrot cake pecans and black pepper caramel to wild berry buttermilk pie gelato and everything in between.

"This year it's been really competitive," said Chef Tracy Dempsey, last year's Gelato Wars winner.

The chef who sells the most gelato at all three Gelato Spot locations will win a custom molded gelato cone trophy, $500 cash, and a $5,000 check to Make-A-Wish Arizona presented on their behalf.

The competition ends on Aug. 31.
