PHOENIX -- During the past month, "Good Morning Arizona" has been presenting million-dollar listing homes, showing high-priced and high-style houses throughout the Valley.

There are some style touches you can add to your own home to get that high-end look, but for much cheaper.

Tips

•  Islands -- You want your island to be as functional as possible, so open space is good. The island is also a good spot to use unique design and materials that are different from the rest of the kitchen.

•  Counter materials -- Typically, you want a material that is low maintenance and doesn’t stain. A stone material such as quartz is really durable and easy to maintain.

•  Back splash -- The back splash on the wall is a good chance to add an appealing look to the kitchen. Subway tile is a classic look that won’t go out of style.

•  Lighting -- Be sure to find lights that are appropriate for the size of the room and space you’re trying to light. Lighting is a good opportunity to add a sculptural element and some personality to a room.
