Ironwood High School junior Tiffany Yang achieved something few other students are able to accomplish -- she earned a perfect score of 36 on the ACT assessment test.

“I was shocked!” Tiffany said.

Tiffany's top achievement is exceptional as less than 1 percent of students who took the test did what she did. Tiffany says she has only earned “A” grades since she's been enrolled at Ironwood. She took the ACT for the first time in January. English, math, reading and science, she got all of the answers right!

“My friends were amazed, and those who have not yet taken the test are hoping to do as well as I did,” Tiffany said. “My advice for others would be to study and prepare for the ACT by taking lots of practice tests, and have confidence that you will be able to do well on it.”

The ACT is a standardized test for high school achievement and college admissions. While there have been more students meeting all four ACT College Readiness Benchmarks over the past several years, the average ACT composite has remained essentially unchanged. The national average composite score this year is 21.1 unchanged from 2008 and 2009 but slightly higher compared to 21 in 2010. The ACT is scored on a scale of one to 36, with 36 being the highest possible score.
