PHOENIX -- Now that fall is finally here, flu season is not far off.
If you don't want to get a flu shot, Olivia Wingert, owner of Souvia Tea, says there are some things you can do to boost your immunity naturally.
Washing your hands well and often is the single best thing you can do to stop the spread of germs.
Black tea and immunity - Drinking black tea can help boost your immune system. It is important to drink black tea regularly and build it into your routine.
Herbal blends - A good organic herbal blend can boost immunity, decrease congestion, release toxins, and reduce fever.
Consider making your own organic cough syrup to boost immunity and increase health.
1 cup fresh or 1/2 cup dried elderberries
3 cups water
1 cup honey (adjust up or down to taste)
Place the berries in a saucepan and cover with water. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, and simmer over low heat for 30 to 45 minutes.
Smash the berries. Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh strainer and add 1 cup of honey, or adjust to taste.
Bottle the syrup and store in the refrigerator, where it will keep for two to three months.
