PHOENIX -- Frying a turkey can be a delicious part of Thanksgiving, but it can turn dangerous if you don’t know how to do it in a safe way.
On "Good Morning Arizona" Thursday, the Phoenix Fire Department showed how to take some precautions when frying a Thanksgiving turkey in a hot bath of oil.
- Do not fry a turkey under a patio or on a balcony, as it is against fire code.
- Wear the proper attire to protect yourself from splatter. Don’t wear sandals or shorts.
- Don’t fry with kids or pets close by.
- Never leave the turkey unattended.
Phoenix firefighters will be on call 24/7 on Thanksgiving, but they hope showing how to properly and safely fry a turkey will prevent some 911 calls.
