Frosted Frenzy adds a 'wow' factor to holiday cupcakes

PHOENIX -- For any parents or party-goers out there scrambling to make sweet treats for holiday parties, we got some tips Friday morning about how to add a "wow" factor to simple cupcakes.

Tami Hatch and Candy Shipley own Frosted Frenzy Cupcakes, an online and delivery gourmet cupcake bakery.

They say it can be easy to whip up cupcake creations that will wow a crowd.

Butter cream frosting is a staple for fancy cupcakes. When making the frosting, Shipley advises using a good sifter for your powdered sugar. "It will make it so much finer when you're baking," she says.

Using a high quality butter will also help make the frosting smooth.

One of the duo's best-selling cupcakes in the Rocky Road cupcake. "You want to core the center," Hatch demonstrates. "Fill it with fudge. Then we're going to top it with with a chocolate butter cream. And then we put all the good Rocky Road toppings on it: marshmallows, almonds, mini-chocolate chips. Then we finish it off with more fudge.

Frosted Frenzy specializes in birthday parties, showers, weddings, or other themed-events. They bake from scratch in small batches to ensure the freshest possible cupcakes.
