PHOENIX -- Super Bowl Sunday is next weekend and party preparations are under way.

Home Depot's Debbie Hernandez shares ideas for homemade decorations and football-themed activities to keep kids entertained.

Finger Football

Materials:

-Printer paper
-2-by-4-foot piece of indoor/outdoor AstroTurf (or desired size)
-1/2-inch PVC pieces to create goal post
-Two elbows, one tee, three caps, 1/2-inch PVC cut into two 3-inch pieces, three 5-inch pieces
-PVC cutter
-12-by-8-inch piece of wood (1/2-inch thick) or scrap piece for goal post base
-Yellow electrical tape (optional)

Instructions:

-Screw one cap to center of wood piece
-Assemble goal post (5-inch stem), then tee. Add one 3-inch piece of PVC on each side of the tee, then elbows (5-inch pieces). Finish with caps.
-Push all pieces together tightly and wrap with yellow electrical tape if desired.
-Cut a small "X" into the AstroTurf at the center of one end.
-Place the AstroTurf on a table. Place the wood piece with the PVC cap under the AstroTurf with the PVC cap poking through the "X" in the turf.
-Place the goal post into the cap.
-Create the paper footballs. Cut a piece of copy paper in half, then fold that in half. Starting at one end, fold continuous triangles. When folding is complete, clip the corner and tuck the end in.
-Flick paper football through goal posts and have fun.

Pin the Pig Skin (Football) in the Goal Posts

-Using blue painter's tape, create a large goal post on a wall.
-Print out multiple pictures of a football from the computer.
-Cover front and back of footballs with clear packing tape to laminate.
-Cut out footballs.
-Put tape on the back of footballs and play. (Just like pin the tail on the donkey.)

Paint Can Candy and Snack Bar Containers

-Purchase empty 1 gallon and 1 quart paint cans (available at Home Depot)
-Print out logos, emblems, pictures, etc. (your choice) from the computer.
-Cut them out.
-Using a glue stick, apply pictures to the cans. (Make sure to attach at the middle of the paper first and smooth down each end from there
-Fill with candy, chips, popcorn, etc.

Also, create candy bar boxes with a piece of styrofoam, large candy bars, and some packing tape. They can hold licorice, candy bars, popcorn, etc.

Use galvanized tubs and buckets (available at Home Depot) for ice and beverages.

Enjoy the Super Bowl.
