PHOENIX -- If your kitchen needs some updating or you just want a different look, Home Depot's Debbie Hernandez has several ideas for small projects that can make a big difference.

-Change the color of your cabinets.

-Replace your countertops with laminate, Corian, Silestone or granite.

-Add a new backsplash. Use SimpleMat for quick, easy tile installation or check out self-adhesive vinyl Smart Tiles.

-Add cabinet hardware. Use a template to get it right. Cabinet hardware has a dual purpose: beauty and function. It's like jewelry on your cabinets and it protects them from finger oils, soap, water and grease.

-Add or change lighting. Add pendant lights over the island, change the light fixture over the table, or add lighting under and/or over your cabinets.

-Replace the faucet and/or sink.

-Change the kitchen flooring. If you've always wanted a wood look in the kitchen but don't want the maintenance, try wood look tile planks.
