PHOENIX -- No room seems to get dirtier than the kitchen. Here are some tips to make your cleanup easier.
On cookies sheets, when baking, use silicone baking sheets from kitchen stores or parchment paper. It keeps cookie sheets clean.
Clean cookie sheets with Bar Keepers Friend to remove cooked on foods.
Fill the sink with hot water and dish soap when you start to bake or cook and drop in dirty utensils etc. They will be easier to clean when you are done.
Got baked-on food in bowls and casseroles? Fill with hot water and put in some automatic dishwasher detergent. Use a good shake. Let soak and the burned on food will be easily removed.
Don’t forget the silicone oven liner to keep spills out of the bottom of the oven.
Use disposable pans for cooking around the holidays. I get Steamer trays at Sams Club or Costco and use those for casseroles etc. You can also buy disposables at the Dollar store. Great for taking a dish to a potluck, too.
Freeze Christmas cookies in freezer bags so that you can have them available at a moment’s notice. It doesn’t take long to defrost cookies. I do the same thing with holiday breads etc. It also keeps me from eating them!
