SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. -- They've been in California for years, but now blow-dry-only salons are catching on here in Arizona.

As Yetta Gibson explained Wednesday morning, a blow-dry salon is exactly what is sounds like -- a salon that does shampoos and blow-outs, and that's it.

They don't do cuts, and they don't do color. There are no chemicals, no perms, and practically no waiting.

You're generally in and out in 30 minutes, and cost is about $35 for a basic blow-out.

These specialty salons are popping up all over the Valley.

Park Avenue Blow Dry Bar is going up near 40th Street and Indian School Road. Dry Bar, which is one of the leading chains in California, will open soon in the Scottsdale Quarter.

Primp and Blow at Thompson Peak Parkway and Hayden Road is Scottsdale's first blow-dry bar.

Depending on where you go, hot-tool services like curling irons and flat irons are available for an additional fee. Some salons also do dry styles (if  you've already washed your hair), up-dos, hair tinsel or accessories, and makeup service.
