PHOENIX -- Sometimes being happy with your house isn't about making big changes. Celebrity design star Jennifer Adams appeared on "Good Morning Arizona" to share some simple ways to create a living space you love.

"You don't have to spend a fortune," the Scottsdale resident said. "But you do need to be honest with yourself about the way your home looks now, and what you want your home to look and like!

"Using what you already have  in new ways can make a huge difference and it costs you absolutely nothing," she continued.

She ran down four simple things that can make a world of difference.

Be aware of the way your home smells

"We all have a certain smell," Adams said. "Think about this: You leave a sweater at someone's home and it absorbs their smell. That means you have a smell, too, and you can change it if its bad. But you need an unbiased person to give you an honest assessment of what your smell is. If its bad, change it with things like candles, deodorizers, whatever it is you enjoy and feel comfortable with."

Make your bed every day

"That means, every single member of the family needs to make a commitment to do this," Adams said. "What a nice why to end the day and relax into the night."

Change your hardware

"If it's not in your budget, you can always clean up the hardware you already have," Adams said. "Think all entry doors, cabinets, and light switches."

Are they clean?  Are they in the best space for their size and what are they reflecting?

"Make sure the mirror isn't revealing a mess from another room or a white, bland ceiling," Adams advised.
