PHOENIX -- Skipping meals may seem like a good idea when trying to lose weight. But it could backfire!
On Wednesday's Good Morning Arizona, we got some tips from an expert on looking and feeling better.
A good rule to follow is: Eat breakfast like a king, eat lunch like a prince, and eat dinner like a pauper.
"Make sure you have a large, hearty breakfast," says dietitian Marisa Moore. "Lunch should be enough to power you through the rest of the day. And then have a very light dinner so you can sleep well and be restored for the next day."
But if you skip meals, you're not alone. Many admit to doing it. But experts warn that it can do more harm than good, diet-wise.
"Breakfast helps to kind of rev up the metabolism," Moore says. "It helps to jump-start your body so you can burn more calories throughout the day."
It also keeps hunger at bay. You should also make sure to eat plenty of fruits and veggie throughout the day. And try to eat at least every four to five hours.
