When Shakira broke into the music scene in the 90's, her look was much darker--more of a grunge style. With dreadlock-like curls and red and brown hair, the singer opted to wear dark colors and stuck to jeans and t-shirts. In 2001 she released her bilingual album Laundry Service and became a huge star in the US with a new look. With blonde hair and skin baring clothes, Shakira was a bonafide pop-star The Colombiana toned down her look after her mega-hit "Hips Don’t Lie," with darker hair, minimal makeup and a more casual style.
