Valley of the Sun United Way (VSUW) joined forces with the Arizona Diamondbacks, City of Phoenix officials and community volunteers to clean-up a neighborhood in Maryvale and encourage others to make a difference in their own backyards. Merl Waschler, President and CEO of VSUW, worked alongside volunteers and discussed with 3TV's Brittney Shipp the positive impact community members can have in addressing vital issues. Savanna Troupe, Miss Arizona 2009, also joined the efforts. The neighborhood clean-up kicked-off VSUW's 2009 annual fundraising campaign.
