PHOENIX -- It seems like everyone has a cellphone these days, even kids. If your child does not have a cellphone, odds are pretty good that he or she wants one. Really, really wants one.
What is the right age to starting considering a cellphone for your child?
Nora Carrillo from the Healthy Steps program at Phoenix Children's Hospital sat down with Yetta Gibson and talked about three thing you need to consider before going cellphone shopping.
1. Necessity. Does your child really need a cellphone of his or her own?
2. Cost vs. benefit.
3. What kind of phone?
Carrillo said parents also need to consider if their children are mature enough to have a phone and responsible enough to take care of it.
