It's a see-and-be-seen scene at white-hot Asia De Cuba, a restaurant that marries Asian and Latin cuisines with delicious aplomb. Housed in the newly revamped Mondrian (formerly The James), the white-on-white dining room echoes the white-on-white lobby — both of which are edgy, fun and maybe even a little surreal. But who pays attention to decor when there are nattily dressed party people parading around, gabbing at the community table and knocking back ginger-lychee martinis and mojitos? It's important to bring a crowd of your own because ADC's generously portioned food is served on big platters that accommodate three to four diners. Both the tunapica (a "picadillo" of tuna tartare with currants, olives and almonds on wonton crisps) and five-spice spare ribs make excellent starters. Salad eaters will love both the tempura-crisped calamari salad with sesame-orange dressing and the Thai beef salad, Thai-spiced beef carpaccio with oranges and avocado. As for entrees, the miso-marinated butterfish and the honey-rum glazed pork pot roast are outstanding. Save room for excellent flan (scented with vanilla, kaffir lime and lemongrass), towering, rum-flamed coconut cake and the Bay of Pigs (a whimsical banana split that's way too much fun).
