PHOENIX - After a disappointing loss in the state playoffs the Notre Dame Saints have regrouped and done nothing but win since, finishing the regular season undefeated en route to the east region title.

The Saints has no plans to stop there.

Loaded with experienced seniors and a sensational goal keeper the Notre Dame boys soccer team is confident their team can win the 4-A II state title.

On the pitch and on paper this team is impressive. For the season they have 111 for and only six goals against.

Captain Ethan Taplin has found the back of the net 30 times in just 33 attempts. It is the last chance for this group of 12 seniors to win a title but they aren't feeling any pressure.

Last year the Saints season ended in the quarterfinals on penalty kicks. After that experience and another season under his belt sophomore goalie Tommy Hebert is ready should a playoff game come down to that again.

Everyone around the program knows though the state title isn't going to be won by one person.

The Saints are aware that on the other side of town Verrado has also won a lot this season and might be their biggest hurdle en route to hoisting the state cup.

Notre Dame's strategy is simple: play as a team and the goal of winning state is attainable.

The Saints begin their quest for the state cup on Wednesday.
