PHOENIX - The first PechaKucha event in Arizona was held Thursday night in Phoenix. The event is designed as a sounding board for creative people to show their work. PechaKucha PHX 1 took place at the Irish Cultural Center.

PechaKucha, pronounced “peh-chak cha,” is Japanese for chit-chat or the buzzy sound of conversation going on in a room. The idea was born in Tokyo in 2003 as an outlets for designers to show their work and since then PechaKucha Nights have gone global. Events now take place in about 295 cities around the world and now Phoenix has added themselves to the list.

During the event there is a tight presentation format called “20×20” which allows presenters 20 slides with 20 seconds per slide.

Check out some of the pictures from Thursday night's event. Thanks to Sara Dobie for the photos. Look for another PechKucha event in the Phoenix-metro soon and for more information visit http://www.pecha-kucha.org/night/phoenix/
