I hear it almost everyday. It's true, I do have a great job, traveling our wonderful state, looking for beautiful spots and interesting characters to put on our 3TV's Good Evening Arizona.

"You have the best job in the state."

"If you ever need someone to carry your tripod for free, let me know."

"How do I get a gig like yours?"

"It's no fair that you get to go to all the best spots in the state AND get paid for it."

I hear it almost everyday. It's true, I do have a great job, traveling our wonderful state, looking for beautiful spots and interesting characters to put on our 3TV's Good Evening Arizona.

For the past 29 years, 21 here at 3TV and 8 at what was once known as KOOL-TV Newscenter 10, I've loaded up my trusty 4x4's and hit the road.

Every turn in the road seems to deliever a breathtaking scene and a person with a great story to tell. That's why it seems everyone wants to go along for the ride.

Of course, they don't take into consideration the nights sleeping on the cold ground, the time away from home or the miles upon miles of empty road that seems to stretch forever. And as the late Bud Lane, Arizona cowboy legend, use to say, "Everything out there bites, stings or eats meat."

But for me it's been a price worth paying.

And the most asked question during those years of eating up pavement? What's your favorite spot in Arizona? My pat answer is the place where I am that day, but of course, I do have some hide-a-ways that are closest to my heart, so here goes.

Down south, the Chiricahua Mountains are hard to beat. Clear, blue mountain lakes, unending views and well kept trails convince me to make the long drive to the Arizona-New Mexico state line. And the icing on the cake? Herd after herd of white-tail deer.
