PHOENIX -- It's one of the busiest travel days of the year as people from all over the country head out to join friends and family for Thanksgiving.

Bruce Haffner spent the morning at Sky Harbor International Airport, where early morning travelers hoped to avoid the longest security lines.

At last check, passengers were moving quickly and smoothly through security lines at Sky Harbor, which is one of the 10 busiest airports in the country.

Two protesters of the TSA's body scanners held signs referring to "porno-scans" and drew sidelong glances from some passengers and words of support from others who told them "Thank you for being here" and "Profiling is everything."

The protesters, husband and wife Patricia Stone and John Richards of Chandler, said the TSA has taken security too far.

More protesters were expected at the airport later in the day.

While there has been some concern that National Opt-Out Day could slow things down at airports throughout the country, the bigger problem might be the weather.  A major winter-like storm is barreling across the Rockies and could lead to delays and possible flight cancellations.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
