PHOENIX -- Just days after being rescued from a hot car by Phoenix police officers, a puppy named Skip is getting a new lease on life and a forever family.

Phoenix Police Officers Kiley Venard and Scott Sefranka, who broke the door's lock to rescue the trapped puppy, met up with Javier Soto to talk about the dangers of leaving pets in hot cars.

Venard said it was about 104 degrees outside when they first saw the little dog. It would have been much hotter inside the car, which was parked with its windows rolled up in a Central Phoenix parking lot.
