PHOENIX -- Just in time for the hottest month of the year, AZ Foothills is fired up to bring the annual Dog Days of Summer Contest to the Valley.
If you think you have a cute canine, come show off your furry friend as we search for the next "Top Dog."
The "Dog of the Year" will receive a professional dog photo shoot and pup profile in Arizona Foothills Magazine and hold the title of Arizona Foothills Magazine's "Dog of the Year 2014," along with various other puppy prizes.
There are three categories: Large dog, small dog and best-dressed dog.
Saturday, July 26, 10 a.m.-noon at Outlets at Anthem
Dogs who enter at the casting call will start the contest with 1,000 votes.
If you can't make it to the casting calls, you may still submit your pup for the contest via online entry. (Note that online entrants will not begin the contest with 1,000 bonus votes.)
All submissions must include:
Dog's name, age and hometown
Owner's full name, e-mail address, and phone number
An adorable photo of the dog
Official voting started Aug. 4.
The 2014 contest will allow for one vote per computer, per day. Round one of the contest will consist of Web voting. The five pups with the most votes in each category at the end of the online voting period will move on to round two. A winner in each category will be then be chosen by a panel of doggie-loving judges, along with an overall winner - "Dog of the Year" - for a total of four winners.
