PHOENIX -- Last January, a little pup was found sealed in a plastic bag, near death from starvation and dehydration.

The pup, Andre, had been shot by a pellet gun and also had hi eyes gouged out.  The Feather's Foundation spent more than $7,000 saving Andre's life and raised more than $15,000 in Andre's name.

After Andre was thought to be healed, the remaining money was used to save the lives of at least 30 other hard-luck hounds.

"It was really put to good use," said Susan Hopkins, who took care of Andre during those first critical weeks after he was found so badly abused. "We did not keep that money available because we knew Andre was healthy and on his way to a good home."

Now Andre is facing another medical crisis.

Sandy Powers, who adopted Andre and now lives in Omaha, Neb., says the dog needs life-saving surgery for a tumor on his adrenal gland. That surgery will cost at least $4,000 and because Powers is unemployed, she's hoping the more than 3,000 people who keep up with Andre's recovery on his Facebook page will help out.

The Feathers Foundation, the organization that rescued Andre the first time, just found out about his new medical crisis and will also try to donate.

If you'd like to help, check out Andre the Rescue Dog on Facebook.
