PHOENIX -- Kimberly Cabral of Scottsdale will be representing Arizona at the third-annual Mom Congress on Education and Learning in Washington, D.C.
Mom Congress is an initiative of Parenting magazine and its mission is "to celebrate and connect parents working to improve schools in the U.S., and to use our media platforms to shine a spotlight on their efforts, inspiring millions more to do the same."
Cabral is the publisher and found of MASK magazine.
MASK -- Mothers Awareness on School-aged Kids - actually came out of a conversation Cabral had with her daughter when she was in the sixth grade.
"The mission of Mothers Awareness on School-Age Kids is to educate both parents and children about the issues facing our youth today and to empower children to make safe, healthy choices," reads the organization's website.
The goal of this weekend's conference is develop workable ideas on how to improve our nation's schools.
The theme of the conference is "Teach Me Something New." The idea is to focus on how parents can develop and foster those essential relationships with their children's teachers.
