PHOENIX -- Taking the SAT or ACT can be stressful for students. After all, those test scores are a big factor in what colleges might accept them.

Bob Pimentel of Pimentel of Pimentel Academic Services, a tutoring service in in the Valley, says there are some simple tried-and-true things students can do to cut down on the stress and improve their scores.

1. Remember, it's an open-book test.
2. Look for clues in the questions.
3. Study your vocabulary.
4.  Review old SAT exams.
5. Do a morning warm-up on the day of the exam.
