GREEN VALLEY, Ariz. (AP) -- A high school prank led police to arrest four Sahuarita High students after a midnight Monday vandalism spree in the school cafeteria that included someone spray-painting graffiti and destroying locks.
Sahuarita police officer Sam Almodova said the students were arrested on felony vandalism charges because the damage came to more than $1,000 in what apparently was considered a senior prank.
School Superintendent Jay St. John said three of the students will not walk with their senior classmates during graduation May 20.
St. John estimated the damage at between $2,000 and $3,000, largely to replace the cafeteria gate locks that had been plugged with glue and to clean up graffiti.
