PARADISE VALLEY, Ariz. -- He's considered one of America’s top mixologists. Ryan Magarian is based in Portland, Ore., but his ideas, and cocktail creations can be found in some of the top dining destinations world wide.

That might be because his cocktails are created with care.

Watch him mix a drink, and you'll see his chef-like level of attention to detail. He uses fresh ingredients hand picked herbs from the garden.

Here in Arizona, those herbs are selected from garden at The Sanctuary Resort on Camelback in Paradise Valley.

He's the man behind the unique drink menu at the resort's recently renovated Jade Bar.

On "Good Morning Arizona," he shared cocktail ideas with culinary flair and his recipe for something called the Self-Starter.

Ingredients:
2 oz. Aviation American Gin
½ oz. Cocchi Americano Quinquina
½ tspn. Rothman and Winter Apricot Liqueur

Creation:
In a shaker or mixing glass, measure in spirits, fill with ice, and stir swiftly for 20 seconds.
Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and garnish with a wide lemon peel or disc.

Sanctuary Camelback Mountain is located at 5700. E. McDonald Drive, Paradise Valley.
