3 recipes: Fruity, frothy, family friendly drinks to keep you cool this summer

PHOENIX -- El Chorro's expert mixologist, Alec van Dobben, show 3TV's April Warnecke how to make three simple and refreshing non-alcoholic concoctions perfect for Arizona's infamous summers.

The fruity, but creamy Tangerine Freeze is great for citrus lovers, poolside party-goers or anyone trying to stay cool this summer.

  • 10oz Orange Sorbet
  • 1 cup Tangerine Juice
  • 1/2 cup Heavy Cream

 
Method
Combine all ingredients in blender and puree until smooth. Serves 4.
Combining the sweet, mild flavors of dates with the rich and creamy taste of vanilla ice cream, the popular Date Shake is simple, refreshing and great for the whole family.

  • 10oz Vanilla Ice Cream
  • 1 cup Dried Dates
  • 2 cups Heavy Cream

Method
Combine all ingredients in blender and puree until smooth

Refreshingly fruity and perfectly balanced, the Grapefruit Basil Cooler can be blended or served on the rocks. Combining garden-fresh basil and club soda with the wonderful flavors of grapefruit juice, this drink is perfect for anyone.

  • Grapefruit juice
  • Club soda
  • Fresh Basil

Method
Smack basil. Combine indredients and shake to mix well.

Now until Labor Day, guests are invited to dine at El Chorro from 5 to 9 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, and Sunday brunch from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. A refreshed summer happy hour menu is available daily, 5-6:30 p.m. The restaurant will be closed on Mondays.
