Warm Holiday Weekend

The high in the Valley was 96 degrees on Friday. We expect to be warming for the Memorial Day Holiday weekend, with a forecast high of 98 on Saturday, 101 on Sunday and 105 degrees on Monday.

A ridge of high pressure is building into the western third of the country rather strongly. That's the reason we're going to see the above average temperatures for early next week. For the most part, the state will remain dry.

However, by the middle of next week we may see just enough moisture in southeast and eastern Arizona to see a few, pre-monsoonal thunderstorms pop up in the mountains.

High temperatures in the Valley will moderate late next week but still be right around 100 degrees.

While many Arizonans head west to escape the summer heat of the desert, they may be surprised to find a lack of sunshine if they hit the beaches of Southern California in May or June.  A weather phenomenon called May Grey/June Gloom is to blame.
