Throughout the holiday season, it's fun to invite folks over but it can sure get complicated and expensive. That's why I wanted to dig up some quick and easy desserts that look nice, too; they're fast, but fancy. Consider inviting friends over simply for drinks and dessert. It reduces the cost but allows everyone a festive get-together.
And remember, plenty of it is in the presentation - so create a yummy dessert and then fancy it up with some shaved or grated chocolate or a sprinkling of cocoa dust. They'll oh and ah and you'v e hardly lifted a finger.
Famous Chocolate Refrigerator Roll
(Recipe is also on the cookie box!)
1 tsp. vanilla extract 1 8-oz. container frozen whipped topping, thawed 1 9-oz. package Nabisco Famous Chocolate Wafers
Stir vanilla into the whipped topping. Spread a small spoonful of whipped topping on each wafer. Begin stacking wafers standing on edge, together. You'll end up with about a 14-inch log, so make sure your platter is long enough. Frost with remaining whipped topping. Chill for 4 to 6 hours.
To serve, garnish with chocolate curls or shavings. Slice the roll at a 45-degree angle for beautiful slices.
1 bottle of white wine (inexpensive wine does well with this!) 1/4 cup of brandy (or to taste) 1/4 cup sugar 4 lime slices, quartered 4 lemon slices 4 green apple slices 1 bunch of green grapes 1 cup club soda (or to taste)
Combine wine, brandy and sugar into a glass pitcher. Stir until sugar is dissolved. Add fruit and let it sit (even overnight) or serve right away. Add sparkling water right before serving.
I'd call that the best of the holidays! A chocolate cookie cake and sangria - that's celebrating.
