is such a wonderful season. Lisa says all the time how it's definitely one of her favorite times of the year and I couldn't agree more. The flowers, the aromas, the importance, in Arizona, of recognizing that the beautiful days of leaving the windows and doors open are waning. But without the deadline of 100 degree plus temperatures around the corner, it would be so easy to take it all for granted.
This year, the family holidays of and fall within the same week. And to be very honest, I always feel a bit guilty that I focus on Easter. Please understand it's based on a Catholic Polish background. So, for all my Jewish friends and neighbors, please know that I promise to take it a step further and plan a show that features ideas specifically celebrating Jewish holidays in the future. But, I will ask for your help, so thank you in advance.
I did try to work in some "spring" entertaining ideas. Watch the segment and you'll see the homemade paper cup and plate tower that can be used for much more than eggs. It's inexpensive and fun and easy in a pinch for a tiered plate display. Also, I loved the way the simple egg carton with brown eggs and fresh potting plants turned out. I'm proud to say that was an original design that evolved from my desire to create a great centerpiece for a picnic lunch. And it really ended up looking elegantly easy. It could work for any casual, outdoorsy event.
And, finally, I can't tell you how much my son used to love tracking the Easter Bunny's footprints to his Easter Basket each year. All I did was cut out a very unrealistic bunny footprint - whatever that looks like, and use it as a stencil with either baking soda, cornstarch, baby powder or even Carpet Fresh. Anything you can vacuum up works great. The impact is huge. To be honest, I could have put a tuna sandwich at the end of those footprints and he would have loved it - well, maybe not but he loved those footprints!

Easter Recipe: Butter Cream Frosting
2 sticks unsalted butter, room temperature and softened 4 cups of powdered sugar, sifted 1/2 tsp. pure vanilla flavoring 1/2 tsp. almond extract 1/4 tsp. fresh lemon juice A pinch of kosher salt
Beat butter until whipped. Slowly add powdered sugar. Beat until all is added. Add remaining ingredients and beat until smooth. It's truly delicious.
