Planning a spring wedding: It's all about the details

Wedding season is in full force here in Arizona. We thought we would share how we create the overall look for a wedding without breaking the budget. It is all in the details! This week we were inspired to create a wedding based on Southern traditions, more specifically, Louisiana.

We first began with our color scheme. It is spring, so we used beautiful, lively, spring colors in orange, green and yellow paired with a traditional ivory. The table runner was made from a piece of fabric that we bought from a discount store. The green and ivory pattern definitely spiced up the look of the table design.

Our inspiration for the color scheme actually came from the orange in the coffee can. The coffee is from the famous Caf du Monde in New Orleans. We also had a bottle of Black Maple Hill Kentucky Straight Bourbon. We envisioned serving the Caf du Monde coffee in the hand-designed coffee cups with the ever popular and definitely delightful beignets that you find in many bakeries or cafs in New Orleans. We attached a wooden number to the bourbon bottle and used that for the table number. Ivory-colored florals as well as the ivory menu and place card added a soft neutral look to the tablescape. And the design of the beautiful cake, from Julia Baker Confections, also incorporated our vision of the southern wedding.

Once you figure out your color scheme, the rest is pretty simple. Be creative, use inexpensive items in unexpected ways, and don't be afraid to experiment with different ideas.
