Carey Peña majored in broadcast journalism and minored in Spanish at Arizona State University. During her senior year, Peña worked as a news and sports reporter for ASU's news magazine show. At the same time, she interned at 3TV.

The love of telling stories and the thrill of learning something new every day proved that broadcast journalism was the path she wanted to follow.

After college, Peña worked as a news writer and special-projects producer at 3TV. In 1999, she started her on-air career.

"What I love about being in front of the camera is getting to talk to and connect with the audience," Peña said. "People here in Arizona have been so kind and wonderful to me over the years. I am incredibly fortunate."

Having worked as a reporter and anchor, Peña has expanded her résumé by adding columnist to the list.

"I was brought up with the philosophy that there is always another adventure, always something else to learn. This job has afforded me the opportunity to employ that philosophy every single day."
