Parra's first television job came when he was a senior in high school --
a tape operator at KYEL-TV. He moved on to become the chief photographer
there while attending Arizona Western College.
From there, Parra spent two years as a photographer at Tucson's KOLD-TV.
In 1994, it was something of a reunion when Parra joined NewsChannel 3
as a photographer and met up once again with Atherton.
For the next 10 years, Parra worked behind the camera on "Good Morning
Arizona," teaming up with Atherton, as well as weather guy Brad
Perry and former NewsChannel 3 reporter Beth Perry, and often making
cameo appearances himself.
In 2004, "Good Morning Arizona" went statewide, giving Parra the
opportunity to move from behind the camera to in front of it.
Parra's hobbies include spending time with his family in Yuma and both
watching and playing sports, especially softball and basketball.
A true Arizona native, Gibby Parra was born in Yuma, graduating from
Yuma High School in 1990. (He went to school with NewsChannel 3's Vielka
Atherton and her sisters.)
