Brad Cesmat
Sports Reporter / Weekend Sports Anchor
Respected Valley broadcaster Brad Cesmat made the jump from radio to television in February 2003.
The award-winning host of the talk show "620 Sportsline," Cesmat began his 10 years at KTAR in 1993.
In addition to hosting pre- and post-game shows for the Arizona Diamondbacks since their inception in 1998 through 2003, Cesmat has covered every aspect of the team on his nightly talk show. From the naming of the team in Palm Beach, Fla., on March 9, 1995, through their dramatic World Series victory over the New York Yankees in 2001, Cesmat was there.
No stranger to taking his highly rated talk show to the story, Cesmat also enjoys displaying the quirky side of sports.
In 1996, he camped out at America West Arena until the Phoenix Suns won their first home game -- 10 days. The team started out 0-7 and Cesmat, then the host of the Suns pre- and post-game shows, decided to relieve the community's pressure by doing something "off the wall."
In 1998, Cesmat sat in every seat in Bank One Ballpark, raising more than $20,000 for a local charity in the process.
Cesmat is no stranger to charity. His annual "Big Guy, Big Turkey Drive" has brought in more than $800,000 in cash and turkeys during the Thanksgiving and holiday season.
Cesmat's connections with Valley sports celebrities have served him well in his time at 3TV, allowing him to land several exclusive interviews, including talks with Curt Schilling at his home the day he opened trade talks with the Boston Red Sox, the only interview with former Suns coach Frank Johnson the day he was fired and the first interview with Cardinals coach Dennis Green two days before he was hired. Cesmat also landed the first extensive interview with Cardinals draft pick Matt Leinart in 2006, and broke the story of Charles Barkley's induction into the Basketball Hall of Fame.
Before coming to Phoenix in 1993, Cesmat started his broadcast career in San Diego, where he grew up. He was the play-by-play voice of San Diego State football and basketball, hosted San Diego Chargers pre- and post-game radio shows and did numerous play-by-play jobs for various teams.
When Cesmat is not doing sports on TV, he coaches youth and junior-high level sports in Chandler.
Cesmat and his wife, Chris, have four children, two boys and two girls. His hobbies include model trains, travel and body surfing.
